Auction date : 15 Dec 2023
Online trading has created new opportunities for the art business. Online acquisition of artworks, embraced by art lovers especially in recent years, is gradually dominating the art market.
Hence, leading auction houses, such as Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Phillips and Bonhams, have increasingly reaped the benefits of onlineauctioning, especially since the COVID pandemic started.
Tehran Auction is also determined to utilize modern technologies in presenting artworks for sale. But, what is the modus operandi of online auction and what makes it different from conventional auctions? It is actually different only in the way participants bid.
Similar to live auction, artworks in online auction are on public display for five days and visitors can view the artworks during those 4 days.
Participants can also bid throughout the time the artworks are on display. Therefore, bidders will have a considerable amount of time to make decisions about possible acquisitions.
The 18th Tehran Auction is planned to showcase works by emerging artists alongside works by established artists. For the first time, the online Auction is to be held concurrently with the exhibition introducing to Iranian art market a group of emerging, predominantly female artists with a bright future.
Participation of these emerging artists in the Auction provides a great opportunity for art lovers and collectors to invest in the works by a promising generation of artists who are expected to become the key players of the Iranian art market in the future.
