I say this because I might have come to Persian painting in cases that were related to the works, but not because I wanted to put myself in the context of the mainstream. Even in this series, some might think the works to be merely decorative, or according to what is in vogue, etc. but this should be considered that despite the interest I've always taken in these themes, I have avoided them in some cases, for I didn't want them to be interpreted in such a way, or to make sure that I am not thinking about such things unconsciously. But this time around, I've come to this matter quite deliberately, and as you rightly pointed out, this time I don't have a humorous approach anymore and my work is coming from a bigger idea. And your question was about how I have separated them from their contexts.

Gizella Varga Sinaei's paintings seem like visualized poems, the lines and colors of which display different periods of her life as an immigrant artist. By linking the past and the present and connecting the source and final work, Sinaei brings ancient myths, legends, and old paintings into the context of today's art. She was born in Hungary in 1944, a few months before the Second World War ended. Listening to her father reading her stories of One Thousand and One Nights, her image of the childhood world was shifted from war and destruction toward sweet eastern dreams and the mysterious tales of Aladdin and His Magic Lamp.

Mitra Tabrizian, an England-based Iranian artist, moved to England alone in 1977 when she was young, a while before the Iranian Revolution. She first attended an international school and then studied photography at the Royal Polytechnique Institution in London. Most of her works are not directly related to Iranian culture and events. She thinks Iranian artists should not limit themselves to issues about their country. She believes they would lock themselves in their homeland borders by calling themselves "Iranian artists" while they are living out of Iran. Instead, they can observe global issues while noting their own country.
