Statement:
Before an artwork becomes an image, it finds meaning in its relationship to the place where it takes shape.
No surface is neutral; every texture, layer, trace of wear, and contrast carries a sign that existed before the artwork and eventually becomes part of its language.
Within this coexistence, the boundary between what is created and what was already there begins to dissolve.
The work does not simply exist upon a surface; it engages with it, is shaped by it, and ultimately derives part of its identity from it.
What emerges is not the result of a singular presence, but of the encounter between multiple layers: time, place, material, and wall come together to create something whose elements can no longer be easily separated.
From this perspective, removing a work from its original site is more than a physical displacement.
A part of the work’s meaning is formed through the relationship it has established with its environment a relationship that gives identity both to the work and to the place it inhabits.
This narrative follows that connection: the moment when the work and its ground cease to be two independent elements, and meaning takes shape in the space between them.
