Statement:
On the “Snow and Stork” group exhibition, in the words of its curator, Behzad Hatam In 2008, on the occasion of the opening of Gallery 10, I asked a group of artists to create works based on Van Gogh’s ear and afterwards about the Mona Lisa.
This task allows artists to create works that wouldn't be realized otherwise; a challenge that could take artists to unexplored and unfamiliar territories.
Upon encountering a poem by Sarvnaz Alambeigi, it occurred to me to once again invite artists to this challenge. Not with Van Gogh or the Mona Lisa, but with something from here and now.///
Sarvnaz Alambeigi is a versatile artist who can encapsulate what's conceived in her mind within a proper framework. She is known for her paintings and documentary films. A significant exhibition of her paintings was held at Etemad Gallery in 2021, and in 2022, her latest film “1001 Nights Apart" won the VFF Documentary Film Production Award at DOK.fest Munich and was screened in German cinemas and television networks.
Previously, her short film “Cypher and Lion” (Noghteh Va Shir) about Parviz Tanavoli was released at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art after the opening ceremony for the "The Lions of Iran" exhibit by Tanavoli.
A few years ago, a book of her stories titled “There Between Two Worlds" was published, a tale filled with imagination and poetic imagery, defying conventional structure . For years, she’s had a story in her mind about a wolf and a stork. This time, she framed the story within the structure of poetry.
The wolf and stork embark on a journey to find the secret to immortality, encountering elements not far from dreams, nightmares and human experiences.
Nazar Publication previously published the book "Daily Notes" that I had written about Sarvnaz Alambeigi and her work. Now, they have published the book "Snow and Stork," encompassing all her poems and the artworks created by the artists inspired by her poetry.
I have put the artists' works on display at O Gallery—paintings, sculptures, videos, installations and more. Accompanying these, experimental orchestra musicians improvise music in front of the artworks.
In the book "Snow and Stork," several QR codes have been printed, through which you can watch the videos and experience the musical performances.
