Statement:
The ceremonial spread as a stage for presence, companionship, and meaning.
From Nowruz and the Haft-Seen table to the rituals of Chaharshanbe Suri and other ceremonial spreads, these arrangements are not merely collections of objects, but reflections of a worldview—one in which togetherness becomes an aesthetic and even spiritual value.
In the history of Iranian art, particularly in Persian miniature painting and during the Safavid period, scenes of feasting, banquets, and gatherings hold a prominent place.
These images are not only depictions of food and objects, but also narrate moments of coexistence—moments in which people, alongside one another, experience meaning. The table is a shared collective.
