2 Sep - 5 Sep, 2022
Frieze will launch a new international art fair in Seoul in 2022 via a unique partnership with the Galleries Association of Korea. Frieze Seoul will take place at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in the Gangnam district in the heart of Seoul from 2–5 September 2022.
Frieze Seoul will feature approximately 100 galleries in the first year, primarily focusing on contemporary art supplemented by a Frieze Masters section steered by Nathan Clements-Gillespie (Director, Frieze Masters). The 18 participating galleries in Frieze Masters will show art throughout the ages offering a unique contemporary perspective on thousands of years of art history. The section will include works from collectible objects to significant masterpieces from Old Masters to the late 20th century.
A highlight of the launch edition of the art fair is Focus Asia. Curated by Christopher Y. Lew (Horizon Art Foundation and Outland) and Hyejung Jang (Doosan Art Center and independent curator), the section will showcase ten solo artist presentations from Asia-based galleries opened in or after 2010. Dastan Gallery from Tehran, Iran, will present Ali Beheshti.
Frieze Seoul will run alongside Kiaf SEOUL, South Korea’s leading art fair, which has showcased the best Korean galleries for the past 20 years.
