Statement:
Sometimes a person disappears in broad daylight not long enough for it to be called sleep, and not final enough to be called death.
A nap is a land of temporary absence, one we pass through every day without even noticing.
In this collection, the portraits seek to capture these small moments of absence:
people standing on the threshold between presence and disappearance.
Eyes half-open, bodies at rest, and time suspended.
Each image seems to bear witness to a fleeting moment when a person has stepped away from reality for a few seconds, remaining suspended somewhere unknown.
Perhaps a nap is death’s daily rehearsal.
Or perhaps death is nothing more than an endless nap.
