Statement:

The Modernist movement in Iranian contemporary painting experienced various transformations influenced by Western art theories, tendencies. and achievements, creating a favorable environment for the growth of this form of art in our country.

The pioneers of this movement were distinguished artists who introduced and taught modern painting styles to the Iranian young generation and made ongoing contributions to modern Iranian painting.///

It can be said that the following generation of those painters was indebted to the pioneers of Modern Iranian painting. including Marcos Grigorian, who is definitely one of them.

Marcos Grigorian Foundation in Yerevan, Armenia, is honored to hold an exhibition during its inaugural year featuring this distinguished artist in collaboration with the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art.

It is important to note that the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, an internationally recognized institution, has the largest collection of works by Marcos Grigorian, and now, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth, "Marcos Grigorian: A Retrospective" will take place from December 2, 2024 to January 12, 2025.

This is the debut solo exhibition of Marcos Grigorian's works at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in over four decades of opration.

This exhibition seeks to contribute to introducing this artist and his considerable influence on the evolution of Iranian contemporary painting to the current generation of painters and art enthusiasts.

Notably, the current exhibition features only a selection of Marcos Grigorian's works. framed within the context of art historiography and approached through research.
