Argo Factory on the Dezeen Awards 2022 Architecture List

On Monday, August 8,  the "Dezeen Magazine" website published its semi-final list of nominees for the 5th edition of the Dezeen Awards 2022. The Dezeen Awards is one of the most famous international competitions for architecture, design, and interiors which is held every year in London to identify and honor the best projects and architects in different fields, including urban and rural houses, cultural and business buildings, residential and hospitality buildings, small buildings, landscape projects, etc.  

The award's jury board involves 93 well-known figures in design and architecture: Marcel Wanders, the Dutch designer; Alberto Alessi, the Italian designer; and Paula Scher, the American graphics designer, among others. Judges have investigated and selected works as semi-final nominees among 5400 projects from 90 countries around the globe. Beauty, innovation, and usefulness for people and the environment have been seriously considered as judgment criteria. The final list of accepted nominees will be published in September, and the final winners will be announced on November 2022.  

Three Iranian projects are mentioned among the semi-final nominees for Dezeen Awards 2022: 

• Argo Factory, Tehran:

This is one of the first industrial factories in Iran that remained ruined and abandoned for a long time despite its unique architectural style and geographic location in the central region of Tehran. Aiming to establish a cultural-artistic center, Pejman Foundation and Ahmadreza Schricker Architecture North (asa north) jointly reconstructed the factory in 2016. This project is longlisted in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2022. Moreover, the project has been recently mentioned in the final list of nominees for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture.  

• Hitra Office Building, Tehran:

The project was built by the Hooba design group in Velenjak region of Tehran and has been longlisted in the "business building" category of Dezeen Awards 2022.  

• Poonehzar-Farm, Fars:

This project was built by Shid Architects on a rural farm in Iran, aiming to provide a seasonal space for hosting people. It has been longlisted in the landscape project category of Dezeen Awards 2022.  

In 2019, Rong Cultural Center, constructed by ZAV Architects in Hormoz island, Iran, was announced as the winner in the cultural building category of Dezeen Awards 2019.
