Statement:
The semi-familiar forms of this body of work place perception in a state of hesitation.Meaning, in the way these works present themselves, resists predictability. Perception repeatedly approaches recognition, only to return without certainty.
A continuous, uncanny, yet vital transformation is always underway, as though the possibility of crossing the threshold of *naming has been withheld.
Understanding is thus drawn into a mental play with the fragments of each work.
It disassembles and recomposes them into new configurations, lingers over them, moves closer, steps back, and at times extends the boundaries of its own perception toward the distant historical references embedded within the forms.
Only then does the viewer realize that, throughout this process, they have not merely been interpreting an artwork, but tracing the very path the artist has persistently pursued over the years: making as a mode of thinking.///
*For Seyyed Alikhani, however, this pause is not simply a meditation on a forgotten way of life or the richness of his native land.
Rather, each work unfolds as a quiet rhythm suspended between two states: the desire to exist and to inhabit life fully, and the impossibility of its complete realization.
Like the forms themselves, they advance to the threshold of becoming an object—or even a living being—yet never fully cross into either.
They remain in a state of perpetual becoming, where meaning continues to unfold without ever settling into certainty.
