Statement:
No creature within the stone grows old, nor does an angelic child emerge from between the clouds. And yet, the realm of Mohammad Khalili’s works stands apart from what we habitually call reality, as well as from that terrain we name the dreamlike or the imaginary.
The elements in his paintings from cloud and sky to stone, water, and field are familiar and lived, resonating with the quiet rhythm of the natural world. Still, they unsettle our senses; they draw perception into a subtle turbulence.
These images speak with clarity and calm, yet beneath their surface pulses an abrupt yearning a tremor of anxiety, an ancient and ever-deepening desire.
