Statement:

+2 is proud to announce Revision: Labyrinths, the latest solo exhibition by Atefeh Majidi Nezhad, opening on Friday, November 8th, and on view through December 6th, 2024.

This marks the seventh time Dastan has presented her work, most recently in the group exhibition at Art Dubai 2024.///

Her previous solo exhibitions with Dastan include "Revision: 2021" (+2 [Fereshteh], 2021) and "Revision: Zero-G" (Dastan's Basement, 2018), following a duo alongside Sadaf Hesamiyan titled “Revision” (Dastan’s Basement, 2016).

In “Revision: Labyrinths,” Atefeh Majidi Nezhad continues her exploration of form and perception by presenting structures that challenge traditional architectural interpretations.

Unlike the rigid and defined nature of architecture, the forms in this series are fluid and open-ended and encourage exploration. The arrangement of cubes in labyrinthine formations shifts and reconfigures, evoking a sense of disorientation and infinity.

These three-dimensional volumes create an innovative framework, with each shape interwoven to invite contemplation.

The delicate 'Zero-G Columns' installation further engages the audience, allowing their interaction to generate a sense of flow and movement.

Majidi Nezhad draws on the Jame Mosque of Isfahan to juxtapose the concepts of fluidity and lightness against the conventional idea of architectural weight.

Through this dynamic approach, including her two-dimensional paintings utilizing monotype techniques, she leads viewers from a distant past into a vision of the future.
