Behind The Net Curtain

It’s the dawn of a gloomy and foggy morning in mist, at an ornate mansion which its curtains invite the wind to dance. Turquoise tiles engrave the floor and mirrors on the wall twirl the light in a vitreous orchard, as if an exquisite opus depicts ornamented portrait of an identical world. At the tail end of the mansion, behind a net curtain, sits a woman, a faceless lady. Not a nymph nor a flirtatious mistress, she is a childless mother. For thousands of years, Faerie has been doing penmanship practice on myriad buckskins with feather and ink; “I am the mother, mother of all mothers, mother to Gaea, and I have given birth to a giant snake,/// that devours all creation, dawn to dusk, allure and charm in disguise, deceives all there is.” She has got two attires, which come in two colors; dark that forges the night and varicolored that fashions the day. In the morning, she wears a veil, mounts an uncolored horse, and rides out of her mansion to put mankind in trial with a well-polished looking glass. “You who are besotted by worldly possess, contemplate upon what eyes cannot see, this guide, this flawless mirror, this unorthodox route to ponder. when you unveiled the untold secrets, then, it would shrink, and you would see.” Translated by Siavash San’atkar The story of a woman behind the net curtain It is the story of a woman who is the mother of the earth and who knows her child better than all human beings. she wonders how the people of the earth are so fascinated by her child that they are unaware of themselves. The lady knows very well that for many years her child, the earth, has been killing and devouring human beings, but human beings are still fascinated by the earth. Every morning, the lady covers her face and rides her horse out of her mansion and hands a mirror to the people so that they can see and know themselves and discover the world inside them. She believes that if human beings know themselves well, they can conquer the universe and wear it as an ornamental object. Because in her view the inner world of human beings is much more complex and massive than the real world. Where does this story come from? We are going through a strange time that has happened like a lot in history. When we think of similar situations in history, such as famines, diseases, floods, etc., we ask ourselves, “How did humans get through those days?” We do not know that today we are in a similar time, and this is going to be history. Events like watching death, and saying goodbye to the beautiful world because of a virus, come and go like a terrible slap in the face if it can’t force people to know themselves better. Sometimes humans do not know that these moments are a rare opportunity that they can turn into a fascinating experience and a spectacular journey into their inner world, to reach a new belief in life. At that time, human beings will be like the winners of life, who are neither too sad nor too happy about the events of the time. And then they will have a world bigger than the real world in their minds. In the human eye, the universe becomes a rotating constellation with its permanent ups and downs. Humans will realize that they have a universe within them that is not limited to the rotation of any carousel. The world within human beings will be a path in which there is no repetition and is full of search, discovery and intuition. This is the message of the woman behind the net curtain that the sleeping human needs to hear. Moein shafei
