Rosebery's offers for the first time a stand alone auction dedicated to "Modern and Contemporary Art from the Middle East and South Asia".
for modern Indian art, Rosebery's has a Souza Landscape painted in 1961 in Belzize Park, a 1948 oil by Rathin Maitra, founder of the Calcutta Group and a group of sculptures by Somnath Hore (1921-2006) from the Private Collection of Niladri and Ranu Chaki.
The Middle East section features an oil painting from the "desert" series by Jordanian painter Wijdan Ali (B. 1939) , abstract works on paper by Moroccan artists Jilali Gharbaouie (1930-1971) and Mohammed Kacimi (1943-2003) and a still life by Iranian artist Leyly Matine-Daftari (1937-2007).
