Roya Khadjavi Projects is delighted to present the second New York solo exhibition of works by Iranian-born twin sisters Bahareh and Farzaneh Safarani, opening on March 4th, 2021, on view through March 30th at High Line Nine Gallery 9.2 Chelsea, New York. Immerse Yourself in the Safarani Sisters’ brilliant journey toward self-discovery. The identical twin artists have long collaborated in their multi-media practice. Titled “The Sprinkle of Light”, eight “video-paintings”, paintings overlaid with video projections integrates representational figurative painting and performance. Reminiscent of Renaissance and Dutch Old Masters’ painting, the Safaranis skillfully integrate these artistic practices into captivating, distinctly contemporary work. In most pieces, the sisters explore their sense of self and personal identity in relation to the other, as twins, individuals and Iranian women as they beautifully portray a woman’s voyage through life toward self-discovery. The Sprinkle of Light evokes hope and playfulness while reflecting the sisters’ evolving and maturing selves, as women and as artists.
