Statement:

Suffering and its relation to hope is an experience that has accompanied humanity since the beginning of human existence and, throughout history, has repeatedly been reflected in artistic images and narratives.

This subject has also been vividly depicted in the paintings of the European classical period. ///

In the present series, while revisiting these works, parts of the faces, bodies, and other elements have been blurred, compressed, or removed; an act that is connected to the concealment or unspoken nature of suffering.

Yet within this unfinished space, hope too has a hidden and unstable presence.

These works remain suspended between the revealing and concealment of suffering and hope; a space in which the question remains: Is hope something real, or is it an image that human beings construct for themselves in order to confront suffering and continue living?
