Statement:

KOTARO NUKAGA Roppongi is pleased to present ‘Points of Entry‘, a solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Kour Pour, from September 26 to November 8, 2026.

The exhibition presents new works from “Poly Painting”, a series in which the carpet’s structure is rendered in paint and traditional patterns from many regions are layered onto one plane. 

For Pour, no pattern, technique or name has a single source. Rolled up in carpets, borne on ocean currents and westerly winds, passing through translation and back – the routes images have traveled, and the shifting positions of their points of entry, are set side by side on one surface.///

Born in Exeter, UK, in 1987, Pour grew up with a father who had left Iran for Britain to trade carpets, and has continued to work through the form of the carpet.

Named to Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in Art & Style in both 2015 and 2017, Pour showed at the Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum in 2017 and held a solo exhibition at the Aga Khan Museum（Toronto / Canada）in 2025. 

This is his first presentation at KOTARO NUKAGA since the 2024 two-person exhibition ‘Myth In Motion’.
