Statement:

"At Centennial Square, the varieties ofcut Tiowers in Abbas Akhavan's untitled, 2017-ongoing,are selected in consultation with a local florist by whatis seasonal, and the composition reflects these changesthroughout the duration of the exhibition.

To chooseseasonal and local flowers is to resist ever-abundanceand reminds viewers of the sensory and socialexperience of selecting flowers in person, for a lovedone.

The careful arrangement of buckets of tulips, lilies,lisianthus, roses, chrysanthemums, snapdragons, andirises in floral refrigerators turns the installation into animage, embodying the fight against death thatphotography contends with.

Cut flowers are given andreceived worldwide as stand-ins for emotion, poised inuntitled the flowers are in suspension prior to beingassigned meaning."
