Statement:
A dealer and an artist got married…
Making this show has been an act of love, a bit like the choice to be an art dealer, or an artist, a writer, teacher, or the best collector.
We decided to include all of the artists in the gallery’s program, others who have followed the program over time, and others whose works we have simply admired. ///
Beyond the requirements for the artists to be nearby, and the work to be modest in size, we had no particular theme or count.
At a certain point, Kristen realized we had more than ninety artists in the show. Fortunately, Christopher is great with spreadsheets.
Making art is a commitment to a lifetime of continuous self-reflection and reflection on one’s own practice.
The artists here are people who give something of themselves for the benefit of others.
They represent our community, our city, our diversity, and our aspirations for open dialogue and creative inquiry.
We’re beginning the salon-style hanging from the center of the walls outward with no specific plan.
It should be interesting to see what relationships emerge.
The opening is an opportunity to view, meet, and come together to celebrate the work everyone in our community does to foster culture and improve our society: artists, art lovers, writers, collectors, art workers, and friends.
