Statement:
"My recent collection is inspired by imagery that emerged during my psychoanalytic sessions. These symbolic images, infused with elements of mythology and interwoven with historical art, are both enigmatic and cryptic.
In each session, like an explorer, I journeyed into the depths of my subconscious mind and encountered images that initially seemed meaningless.///
But with the guidance of my psychoanalyst, their symbolic meaning gradually became clear to me.I embarked on a challenging, painful, yet fascinating journey that continues to this day.
I chose to transform these images into works of art using printmaking techniques, in order to share these insights with others.
While the images and symbols are deeply personal, I’ve come to realize that each viewer may perceive their own meanings when encountering them.
The title I chose for this collection emerged during one of my psychoanalytic sessions. Kun Fayakun “Be, and it is” reflected my initial fear of articulating the images I saw, rooted in the apprehension of sharing them and the possible consequences.
Yet, Kun Fayakun did manifest, and in that, I found a sense of liberation. Each day, I delved deeper into the human mind’s capacity to bring forth this “Kun Fayakun.” The very creation of this collection is a testament to that.
Kun Fayakun is a well-known phrase repeated several times in the Quran. It means “Be, and it is,” signifying the will to exist and come into being without any prerequisites.
In the Muslim faith, this creative power is uniquely attributed to God, though it is also used metaphorically."
