Statement:
Gallery Nosco is pleased to announce the first solo exhibition in Brussels by Iranian artist Mohsen Heidari (b. 1981, Tehran), featuring a new body of work titled Other Morphosis.
Heidari’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in extensive research, drawing from diverse fields such as history, culture, science, technology, and art.
His work delves into fundamental concepts that have shaped human thought over time, tracing their origins back to ancient civilizations renowned for their rich traditions and intellectual advancements.///
By intertwining these historical elements with contemporary artistic approaches, Heidari creates a dynamic dialogue between past and present.
In Other Morphosis, Heidari explores themes of change and metamorphosis, examining the fluid nature of identity and its interaction with shifting environments.
Central to his practice is his masterful application of traditional Iranian artistic techniques. Heidari also employs the ancient craft of working with Iranian black ink, originally made from soot, a medium historically prized for its deep, velvety texture and enduring quality.
By reviving this time-honored material and blending it with contemporary methods, Heidari bridges centuries of artistic heritage with modern expression. Through a refined interplay of form, texture, and symbolism, he challenges viewers to reflect on the universal forces of transformation that shape human existence.
Set against the backdrop of Brussels’ vibrant and diverse art scene, this exhibition represents a pivotal moment in Heidari’s career.
Other Morphosis not only introduces his visionary work to a broader European audience but also enriches the cultural landscape of the city, reinforcing its position as a hub for innovative contemporary art.
