Statement:
The dictionary defines the word "habitat" as “domain,” “environment,” “land,” “nature,” “essence,” “position,” and “place”.
In naming these volumes, Zad uses the term “handicraft” instead of calling them “sculptures,” mainly because they do not follow the complexities of sculpture-making, either in terms of aesthetics, execution, or concept.
Zad’s paintings always depict a vast scene where each viewer can construct their own personal narratives.
From this perspective, these works are "screens" within which each viewer creates their own “story”; screens with human-animal characters placed in unexpected situations.
The expanse of every habitat offers a realm of freedom for us to choose how we engage and create new meanings.
