Statement:
After the Group Exhibition by women Iranian artists in the City of Meppen in Germany, we decided to represent this exhibition with a few additions and changes, again in the Aknoon Art Gallery in Isfahan. This exhibition was named "Abandon" based on the subject of Immigration.
In this upcoming exhibition, we have emphasized on women, this time with the name of "Abandoned". What you will be expecting is, in fact, a quotation of our apprehension regarding migration, its annotations, reasons, consequences and results.///
Problems including absence, exile, release, collapse, anticipation, ambiguity and fear: the fear of losing our roots, and facing contrasts, whatever is, or will be lost, whatever we gain, and even whatever is already lost in this process. What makes us leave our comfort, and circle of peace? In this process we will face fractures* and emptiness. What will we take with us, and Why? Whether we have experienced migration or not, it is a question we have been asking for a long time. In this cycle, the choice between leaving and staying, abandoning or being abandoned, it is a choice between rebuilding or being rebuilt from scratch.
We are always asking from ourselves, will this emptiness be filled? Will we ever find ourselves the way we used to be?
For those who stay, or for those who leave, how could we balance this thin line between our traditions and the modern-world challenges? They will lose or gain, or maybe not.
the resemblance between "fracture" and "Abandon" in Persian(tark and tarak) was also a motivation for us to choose this title, and writing this text again, this will be our second diary, a diary made of immigration.
