Statement:

This series of drawings delves into family relationships and individual developments. Referring to my childhood, conversations with friends, and writings from Freud, I explore the construction of individuality, personality, sexuality, and character from childhood to adulthood. This idea takes root in the social frameworks of home as a private, enclosed entity and the public milieu of society. These artworks question the Freudian concepts of the id, the ego, and the superego, depicting how they interact within each individual and in relation to their environment. In my drawings, I show how these personal and interpersonal mechanisms are being reproduced by the members of a family/ within a family and to which extent the parents’ ego and superego impact the following generation.
