After a first exhibition at the Bertrand Hassoun gallery in 2015, Elham Etemadi returnes to Besançon on Thursday April 7, 2022, with a work imbued with extraordinary poetry and great freedom. The show runs through May 7th, 2022. ///
The universe of Elham is shaped by the reverie of childhood where shapes and colors spring up on the canvas like an imaginary parade of a thousand objects. Elham says she paints her dreams, just as Chagall also traced his own illuminations during his many celestial journeys. An enchantment for the senses, but which should not make us forget this philosophical proposition inscribed in each atom clinging to its pigments. This question of a soul, "wandering", whose assiduous fauna (cats, dogs, fish, crocodiles, snakes and beasts of the sky...) take care of carrying the enigmatic burden. These birds, lugubrious or majestic, numerous in the interlacings and arabesques traced by the young Iranian artist. Like so many strange watchers cut out of a bouquet saturated with cinnabar, turquoise and saffron.
The proposal of an immense horizon opened up as much by the political charivari and the cultural hustle and bustle of the modern world as by a certain form of clandestine incantation of the poems of Hafez or Saa'di. Dreams of soon a thousand years, buried under the silky land of greater Asia.
