Brintz Gallery hosts “Tiger Paintings”, a solo exhibition by Kour Pour. These recent paintings consist of 10 black-and-white prints and are made by block printing ink on wood and collages. Paintings and works on paper which encompass the subject of tigers in Ukiyo-e prints. This printing technique can be found in the block print paintings that stem from the artist’s investigation into Japonisme, the Japanese influence on Western art and culture. These works combine techniques and imagery used in Japanese Ukiyo-e printmaking to create large-scale paintings on canvas that are enriched in combination with western modern art traditions.
Tiger Paintings opens on February 21, 2022, and runs through March 7.
