Dastan's Basement presents Bahman Mohammadi's solo show titled "On the Sidelines". This exhibition is the artist's first collaboration with Dastan and will be on public viewing from... until..... In this exhibition a series of paintings with oil and acrylics and mixed media on canvas are showcased.

Encountering loneliness was the initial step in putting the pieces of "On the Sidelines" together. Every painting indicates the mental relationship the painter has with his models and this loneliness. "Sometimes I playfully link the simple image of a person in my mind with his or her experience of being lonely", says Mohammadi. But the artist is not satisfied by the mere representation of loneliness; Just as he tries to go beyond what he sees in his models and tries to cast light on the hidden corners of their lives. With his palette of muted colors, he places the disintegrated faces and disjointed bodies of his models in a background with no clear signs of a setting. "While I take time to construct [representational] objectivity, I try to devote even more time to destroying the properties of this objectivity and now, for example, to separate people from the world to which they belong." The distinction between floating and voluminous brush strokes in the foreground and the subtlety of the background make this separation possible.
