We are intra-lingual/language-bound beings; and by ‘language’, I am not just referring to our system of writing and reading, but a system that precedes our nature; a much broader system: ‘language’ in the sense of ‘the linguistic world’. In the “I don’t burn things” series, my main question is how to go beyond the boundaries of representation and at the same time narrate a work within an abstract context. To achieve this, I have made use of strategies such as repetition and disruption, humor, and, most importantly, space. I have used individual and social narratives that I encountered while creating the series.All the narratives are formed in an abstract context. The context itself in its smallest visual unit (i.e. square) carries for me a wide range of concepts that I can briefly describe as a ‘system’. Hadi Sadeghipour
