List IV – Another Perspective

Curator: O Gallery is pleased to present the fourth edition of the group show, “The List”, “List IV - Another Perspective” in collaboration with gallery artist Ashkan Sanei. With the participating artists born in different decades, ranging from the 40s all the way to the late 80s, “The List” is certainly a survey. While it cannot claim to be a full overview, it represents a great number of artists who have made a significant contribution to the medium. The works presented by the featured artists in each edition reflect that drawing and works on paper in general are as dynamic a medium as ever, and that artists continue to consider it an essential vehicle for addressing and interacting with the contemporary world. What makes drawing an easy subject to ponder in everyday life is also what makes it difficult to value clearly in the context of the arts. With the continuation of such exhibitions at the galley, we hope to establish drawing as independent and a shared visual language of expression rather than etudes or mere sketches for more serious works. The works presented are valued for their immediacy, intimacy and directness, the insights they offer into the process of the creative act and their fragmentary, incomplete nature. Exhibited Artists: Asareh Akasheh (b. 1981 Tehran), Niusha Baraei (b. 1998 Oroumyeh), Afshan Daneshvar (b. 1969 Tehran), Armin Ebrahimi (b. 1984 Tehran), Maryam Espandi (b. 1985 Tehran), Majid Fathizadeh (b. 1977 Zahedan), Behnaz Ghassemi (b. 1977 Mashhad), Avish Khebrehzadeh (b. 1969 Tehran), Farshid Mesghali (b. 1943 Isfahan), Maryam Mohry (b. 1979 Tehran), Ali Nassir (b. 1951 Tehran), Raha Raissnia (b. 1968 Tehran), Ramtin Zad (b. 1984 Tehran), Shantia Zakerameli (b. 1980 Isfahan), Benjamin Zolfaghari (b. 1986 Tehran)
