The House of Lucie Kashan is a cultural complex located in the heart of the historical fabric of Kashan, dedicated to the exhibition of photographs. This restored Qajar-era house features three courtyards, 30 rooms, and two wind towers, showcasing works by photographers who have received the Lucie Award. The Lucie Award has been held annually since 2003, honoring photographers from around the world who have dedicated their lives to photography. To date, about 150 photographers have received this award, including Henri Cartier-Bresson, David Bailey, Nan Goldin, James Nachtwey, Steve McCurry, Martin Parr, Stephen Shore, and others. At the House of Lucie, the photographs are not for sale. They are unsigned, uneditioned, and have no monetary value. This exhibition is solely to introduce the great masters of photography who have been honored by the Lucie Award. The current collection has been gathered from photographs that the photographers themselves have provided to the Lucie Foundation for display. Additionally, rooms are dedicated to specific photographers such as Kenro Izu, George Tice, and Steve McCurry. Furthermore, a gallery titled "Third Courtyard" is designated for temporary exhibitions, featuring both indoor and outdoor exhibition spaces. Besides exhibition spaces, the House of Lucie also includes a library and a media room. This museum-house was established by Hossein Farmani in collaboration with Hassan and Hossein Rowshanbakht. The aim of establishing this house, which in a way showcases contemporary world history, is to help Iranian youth by displaying the works of the world's greatest photographers. The restoration of the House of Lucie, which took two years, was carried out by the Rowshanbakht twin brothers. Considering the building's function, the restoration aimed to maintain simplicity. The general principle in the restoration was to preserve the overall structure of traditional architecture while adding modern elements. Therefore, the house does not feature specific decorations; the railings and doors are made of iron, and glass is used extensively.
