The Unveiling of Negar Farajiani's Book "Tehran Monoxide" at the University of California, Irvine
25 Apr 2022"Tehran Monoxide: A Project" by Negar Farajiani, published in December 2021, is introduced at the University of California, Irvine on Monday, April 25, 2022. The book is published by Jordan Center for Persian Studies and Culture and edited by Ashkan Zahraei with accompanying texts by Diana Kashi, Sarah Maske, Behzad Khosravi Noori, and Hoofar Haghighi.
The book is a review on "Tehran Monoxide"; an ongoing project with social artistic themes initiated by Negar Farajiani, an artist and curator based in Tehran, in 2010. The expanded range of activities and approaches in this project through different periods of time include holding an art exhibition at a school, making conversations with the citizens in a downtown pharmacy in Tehran, learning about the effects of apartment plants on the air pollution and selling the same plants on a street in Tehran, building a garden-like space via exhaust pipes in a garden where no more trees exist, and trying to teach children beside learning from them at the same time. The book is a narrative of some ten years; of a simple question about the air pollution in Tehran that led to the green corners in the classrooms and other parts.
The session is held both in-person and online via Zoom, 5:00-6:00 pm PDT and there will be a book signing after the session. Those registered before, can enter the room via the link below:
