Nazanin Noroozi's Solo Show "The Riptide"

Reading Time : 1 Minute

The show of Nazanin Noroozi's works entitled "The Riptide"  at the Space Gallery in Ohio began on August 20 and continued until October 14, 2021.

Nazanin Noroozi has made a four-minute video in "The Riptide"  using amateur videos taken by her father in pre-revolutionary Iran. The artist used this medium to re-tell the stories about injuries and displacements that other family members have talked about. These recorded moments, which include children singing at school, can sometimes be very trivial; but the artist has placed them next to photographs of glaciers melting, imaginary asteroids attacking Earth, and other natural disasters to capture the impact of those moments more and in a wider dimension.

Nazanin Noroozi is a multimedia artist which photography, printing, and alternative photography methods play a major role in shaping her works. Through the reproduction of images and their manipulation, she seeks to discover the subtleties of achieving her own visual language. She was born in Tehran and studied painting at Soore University. In 2015, after immigrating to the United States, she received a master's degree in painting and drawing from the University of Pratt. Her works come from the heart of family and private archival images, so she always pays attention to concepts such as collective memory and historical experience.
