About the lotCommissioned for the opening of the Jameel Gallery of Islamic Art at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2006, this is one of six panels made in the artist’s Tehran studio. Interlocking hexagons at the centre sit within a larger frame from which lines extend towards the edges, subdivided and repeated across the surface. The panel is made in āyeneh-kāri (mirror mosaic) combined with coloured and reverse-painted glass and plaster. The hexagon was a form Farmanfarmaian returned to throughout her career.
