Photo Basel 2022

The first and only art fair in Switzerland dedicated to photography-based art, Photo Basel 2022, returns to the Volkshaus Basel for its seventh edition from June 14 to 19, 2022. The fair will coincide with the international modern and contemporary Art Basel. Since its inaugural edition in 2015, the fair has been the space for fostering a dialogue between the photographic and other art communities and has brought together galleries from around the world. Dedicated to collectors, art lovers, and experts, the fair is the most prominent photography fair in the German-speaking region and has expanded its presence in the last several years. Photo Basel 2022 will welcome around 40 international exhibitors from various countries and continents. The fair strives to include and combine young galleries and renowned, Swiss exhibitors and international ones, those with a bold contemporary program, and others with solid historical positions.  As in previous years, Photo Basel 2022 will have exceptional programming focused on the African continent and its diaspora. Photo Basel also organizes the CAP Prize (International Prize for Contemporary Photography) for artists dealing with topics from the African continent and its diaspora. The award aims to increase the international visibility of the selected artists. Five award winners will be announced on Friday, June 17, 2022.
