Every summer since 1970, over the course of more than forty exhibitions at various of the city's exceptional heritage sites, the Rencontres d'Arles has been a major influence in disseminating the best of world photography. The festival welcomed more than 140,000 visitors.

Iranian Artist "Mehr Ali Razaghmanesh" is participating in "On Earth – Imaging, Technology and the Natural World", a group exhibition in the Foam Museum during 50th edition of the Rencontres d’Arles. Also, Iranian artist "Hashem Shakeri" is participating in the 50th Les Rencontres de la Photographie with the work "An Elegy for the Death of Hamun".
