art berlin at the Airport
The second edition of art berlin will take place from September 27–30, 2018. For the first time, the fair will be housed in two hangers of the decommissioned Tempelhof airport, a historic Berlin site. Since 2017, Berlin has been attracting the international art world to the city with its new art event, starting off the autumn season with around 110 national and international galleries presenting a comprehensive overview over the current art market, from contemporary young and established positions to works of classic Modernism. The fair, which emerged from a partnership between abc art berlin contemporary and Art Cologne, reflects the diversity of artistic production exhibited by the galleries. With an extensive accompanying program, art berlin offers a glimpse into some highlights of the art metropolis. art berlin is a partner of Berlin Art Week, which brings together select exhibitions held by Berlin’s museums and institutions.

art berlin 2018
The newly founded art berlin is a partnership between abc art berlin contemporary and Art Cologne. As a further evolution of abc, the art fair took place for the first time in September 2017: art berlin presents around 110 international galleries from 16 countries at Station at Gleisdreieck. In addition to emerging as well as established galleries focusing on contemporary art, one will also be able to discover modern art. Throughout its four-day running time, art berlin invites you to a dense program of events that have been developed in collaboration with Berlin artists. The program, aimed in part at invited guests but also directed to the wider public, encompasses talks, studio visits, and walks throughout the exhibition grounds and in the city. On Friday evening, September 15, Berlin galleries participating in art berlin open the doors to their exhibitions. Many of these exhibitions will be opening on that same evening and complement the weekend program of Berlin Art Week.

art berlin Is Ready for Takeoff
The German capital’s preeminent art fair, art berlin, is on the move. Changes began last year with the announcement of a partnership with Art Cologne, organized by the Rhineland fair’s parent company Köln Messe. That was part of a package of changes that included a new identity: out with the old, abc – art berlin contemporary, and in with the more simply stated art berlin. More changes are afoot. The fair will move from its longstanding home at Gleisdreieck to the former Tempelhof Airport in the fall, with 120 participating galleries occupying two hangars that sprawl over 100,000 square feet.
