Juxtaposing formal and abstract elements with one another, as well as creating spaces that have multiple meanings or are trans-textual have always been dominant features of Ali Nassir’s work. In his recent collection, the lack or imperceptible presence of human figures is yet another experiment that is in direct relation to his previous pieces. In this collection, the removal of the figure (or the presence of its slight shadow in the work) and the presence of more geometric shapes, are an attempt to highlight the forms, colors, brushstrokes and the “artistic” act.
