Mahsa Biglow, A Letter from an Alien Relative, 2020
This work is part of an observational poetic narrative video series in which the artist tries to express her outsider’s point of view as an immigrant. She is interested in the linguistic complexity of the words that the Immigration bureau employed. The term “Aliens” refers to foreigners who seek immigration, and “Naturalization” is used to refer to the process of becoming an American citizen.
Setareh Ghoreishi, My thoughts, 2017
Ghoreishi’s research focuses on the role of visual art and design at the interaction of two different cultures from two extremely different countries: Iran and the United States. Incorporating images that she took both at home and in the United States, the artist shows her dilemma, bewilderment, and feelings caused by the displacement through .GIFs, a format that is continuous in motion and alludes to her homesickness.
