The Rose of Jericho

Statement:

Between drawings, sculptures, photographs, paintings, installations and performances, Aurélia Zahedi has been developing for several years a work dedicated to the Rose of Jericho, an immortal plant wandering with the wind to open in contact with the rare and precious rain which causes it to bloom the desert.///

In Palestine, alongside the Bedouins of Nabi Moussa, the artist composes a protean story exploring with strength and poetry the myths of the Rose and its land torn apart by the madness of men.

In the intimate atmosphere of the ICI hammam, the exhibition summons the force of the imagination as the last defense against oblivion while beliefs, orality and memory oscillate between emergence and erasure.
