Statement:

A question of painting or photography? A question of representation, history, margins, and framing.

The "Today Yesterday" series is beyond painting or appropriating family photographs. It's more about assessing the potential of painting and delving into the possibilities of presenting images. It's about returning to seeing the already seen images of family albums, ours and others; it's the strength of a father in his prime, the beauty of an unknown woman lying in the grass, or a table set in the courtyard in summer and the clothes and people's poses in different places.///

It is floating in the images, in the intervals of colour expression and blending, while presenting various and diverse constraints and potentials. In this series, a photo is neither diminished nor destroyed but intensified and perhaps has expanded into a "super-image." I pondered what might be hidden in them for hours and months and how the entire image comes alive with minimal indication.

In these works, I've expanded the expressionism of the margins and edges of each image. The nature of the image and the relationship between reality and the photograph, and going beyond it, is one of the goals of this series. The photo was merely an excuse; the point was to bring yesterday into today and paint it in the present moment.
