This is Bastami’s exhibition for the first time in Toronto. When I left home, I felt a piece of me staying behind. A piece of me replaced by what can only be a piece of you, a piece of my land, a piece of every place I have ever seen, a piece of where I broke down into tears, where I first found love, a piece of where I was born and where | have been. There is no doubt we each have our own pieces, a world made of blocks, and our body holds them all, all tears, all laughter, and all the pains, all the things that make us who we are.
