Located next to the Museum of Natural History, The museum building dates from the Safavidera. Many changes were made to the building during the Qajar era. This Building became the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art in 1994. Permanent sections include the library, administration, and conference hall. The seven exhibition rooms are: calligraphy and writing, hand-woven and embroidered works, miniature paintings, metal works, glass, pottery and porcelain, and wooden works are all displayed in this museum. The first part of the museum includes a collection of fragments, papers, and books of the Quran in the handwriting of Mohammad Momin Abhari, books of hadiths, poetry, and prayers, which are displayed in the handwriting of Taraz Yazdi, Shafi Tabrizi, Mir Emad and his daughter. Holding provincial, national, and international exhibitions, special conferences in various fields of art, collecting, protecting, restoring and displaying historical artifacts, introducing contemporary arts to the public, researching various artistic fields, and providing a suitable place for gatherings of the artist community are among the features and programs of this museum. It is interesting that among the current activities of the museum, this building has a library with 1,500 books.
