In 2021, 20 artists are involved in the exhibition, which focuses on featuring entirely new works. The entire breadth of contemporary art is represented, from painting, ceramics, and sculpture to site–specific interventions, sound works, and spatial and video installations. This year‘s exhibition will take place at the Weserburg Museum für moderne Kunst and the GAK Gesellschaft für Aktuelle Kunst, so that the works of the 2021 Meisterschüler*innen can be experienced in two buildings in close proximity.///
A big crowd is circling a blue truck. There are two sheep in the back, of which only two mounds of wool are visible. The truck is moving through the crowd. The driver climbs down, chanting along with the crowd, grabs one of the sheep, brings it to the middle and sacrifices it by slitting its throat. A river of blood flows. Someone emerges from the crowd and pours buckets of milk on the ground. Milk, water and blood mix into each other. The women chant: When there is no water, we need no authority, a sheep can do the job alright.”
“In the midst of a ford” is a room installation which is recreating a crime scene inside a protest. The scene of the crime plays a major role in this crime fiction, more than mere background. Not only do carefully chosen traces enrich this narrative, but they may also very well assist or impede the investigation, even after possibly being an accessory to the crime.
