Ms. Manijeh Miremadi was a well-known figure in the area of contemporary Iranian art in the past four decades during her lifetime, with the support of her art-loving husband and companion Dr. Jamshid Nasseri, she dedicated her life to the collection, study and publication of contemporary Iranian works of art and along the way managed to record and amass a unique number of works, documents, books, and articles on Iranian art but what will ensure the longevity of her name in Iranian history is the gracious donation of her collection to Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, which was made possible through the efforts of her husband Dr. Jamshid Nasseri. What makes the collection unique is the process through which Manijeh Miremadi, as a researcher and professional publisher, acquired each piece direct contact with its artist. "Souvenir" is an exhibition of several important generations of Iranian artists: the first section of the exhibition narrates the formation of a new movement in Iranian visual arts and includes works by pioneer of Iranian modernism like Shokouh Riazi, Javad Hamidi, Hossein Kazemi, Mahmoud Javadipour, and Ahmad Esfandiari. This section also covers the second generation of modernists including the first graduates of Tehran’s school of Fine Arts, and represents the transformations that took place during the 80s and 70s in forming new foundations in Iranian art. The second part of the exhibition includes works by artists who reached fruition in the 80s and 90s and who are now considered established artists both nationally and internationally.
