In Ali Akbar Sadeghi's Studio

Ali Akbar Sadeghi has been living and working on the second floor of a building in Gheytariyeh neighborhood of Tehran for about 20 years. Being mostly occupied by his large size paintings, his workspace is similar to a gallery or a small museum containing artworks from different periods of the artist's career.  

Ali Akbar Sadeghi's colorful paintings are framed and organized throughout his studio; colored frames enfold his paintings and are carefully and neatly installed in rows of one, two, or more artworks. The vast bright space along with the white floor and ceiling hosts his designs, colors, and all the excitement within his paintings. Sadeghi's sculptures are standing on a table. His two ornamented chairs are placed in front of a shiny window in the middle of a room, the walls of which are covered by paintings. 

On the south side of the studio, there is a completely different atmosphere. This is where he creates his art; it is a wide room with a window and a balcony facing a park. Every day, he sits at a big white table in the middle of his balcony and starts his work. The neatly organized structure is apparent in this room too. He has put his tools such as paints, brushes, and study lamps on the two corners of the table, and there is a painting canvas in the middle. There are several huge framed designs installed on the wall behind him, and three lampshades are hanging from the ceiling that seem to have been metallic kettles.  

Sadeghi has installed shelves on two of the walls of this room, on top of which he puts his books and souvenirs, thus creating a space filled with memories and ideas narrating the artist's productive life and career. He is currently 84 years old, and every day he spends three hours in the morning and three hours in the evening painting while listening to some pop and energetic music.
