Iman Raad’s Mural in New York

Reading Time : 2 Minutes

Iman Raad has recently completed a mural entitled "School of Fish" in Queens, New York. "School of Fish" is a ceramic mural created by using more than 2000 handmade and hand-painted ceramic tiles made by masters from the ancient city of Fes in Morocco. The length of the work is more than ten meters. In this painting, with a blue background, fish are swimming in the river, and some visages have come out of the water. The ocher color shining on the side of each wall is reminiscent of light reflecting on the surface of the water.

Influenced by Iranian painting, Mongolian painting, and contemporary visual culture, he combines the local sources of inspiration with contemporary subjects to create his installations. The lively atmosphere of his artworks is due to the use of vibrant colors, variable perspectives as well as repeated forms and patterns.
