Arash Hanaei and Morad Montazami Received the Prize of the BMW ART MAKERS Program

Artist Arash Hanaei and curator Morad Montazami received the prize of the BMW ART MAKERS program with a project entitled "Suburban Hauntology". The project will be presented in July 2022 at the Les Rencontres d'Arles and then in November 2022 at the Paris Photo.

Arash Hanaei lives and works in Paris. After studying in Tehran, he became involved in multimedia art and developed his technique. The series entitled "capital" as maps of the city of Tehran(2008 - 2015) presents a critical mapping of Tehran following the Iraq war against Iran. Gradually, his work has developed from documenting to Inter-Media and Post-Internet strategies. Through the "Cyclothymia of a Land" series, Hanaei advances the dialectic between urban landscapes and digital landscapes and reinforces his art by merging modernist architecture, war, video games, etc. A number of solo shows have been presented by Hanaei in recent years, including Poush Manifesto(Paris), Goethe-Institut(New York), as well as the collection: Museum of Modern Art(Paris), Palais de Tokyo(Paris), Art Space Potsdam(Potsdam), MAXXI Museum(Rome). His works are housed in several international collections, including LACMA(Los Angeles), National Centre for Visual Arts(France), Museum of Modern Art(Paris), Peter Messer(Berlin), etc.
