Online auctions have created new opportunities for art businesses. Online acquisition of artworks, embraced by art lovers in recent years, is gradually dominating the art market. Hence, leading auction houses, such as Christie's, Sotheby's, Phillips, and Bonhams, have increasingly reaped the benefits of the online auctioning, especially since the COVID pandemic started. Tehran Auction is determined to utilize modern technologies in presenting artworks for sale.///
But what is the modus operandi of online auction and what makes it different from conventional auctions? It is actually different only in the way participants bid. Similar to a live auction, artworks in an online auction are on public display for 2 days and visitors can view the works up-close during this period. Participants can bid throughout the time the artworks are on display and then until 6:00pm on the 3rd day (Friday, October 11). Therefore, bidders will have a considerable amount of time to make decisions about possible acquisitions.
The 21st Tehran Auction will be an online auction, showcasing works by emerging artists alongside the established artists' works. The online auction is to be held concurrently with an exhibition introducing a group of emerging, predominantly female artists, with anticipated bright future. Participation of these emerging artists provides a great opportunity for art lovers and collectors to invest in the works by a promising generation of artists who are expected to become the key players of the Iranian art market in the future.
